I hadn't seen Paul in more than two decades but was stunned and saddened to hear of his passing. My enduring memory of him was the brilliant contrast of his personality. He would lay you out on the football field, then help you up and dust you off. He possessed a rare combination of ferocity and compassion.
My very best wishes to Paul's family....

I fondly remember the day I met Paul and how we walked and talked and talked and talked all over MCV. He had another applicant waiting to be interviewed and he actually forgot!....I will NEVER forget the joy in his eyes when he showed me the pictures from the wedding and when Paul Jr. finally got here. Paul was a wonderful Supervisor turned co-worker and I will miss him very much. Tonya, my prayers go out to you and the kids...and though I haven't seen you or spoken to you guys in a while, you are ALWAYS in my heart and my prayers. I am so sad right now...

Tonya, I'm sorry I never got to meet Paul. I can tell by all of these tributes that he was a wonderful man. I know he has been strong through his battle with cancer. Know he is not suffering any more. I am thinking of you and his children. Please reach out to me anytime...my boys have lost their father at a young age and I am fighting the same fight Paul did. I am here for you.

My profound sympathy to the family of Paul Pritchett. Everyone looked up to Paul, literally and figuratively. He was truly the big man on campus in junior high. He was a formidable competitor, but at the same time, a true gentleman. A fond memory: The day Paul borrowed my track shoes during a meet with opponents at another school. One of his shoes was damaged. (we both had big feet, but it took me quite awhile to attain his height.) He went on to win every track and field event that day. I still have those shoes. Rest in peace, Paul.

To all of Paul's family and loved ones, Please know that so many of us are praying you all through his. I was so saddened to hear of Paul's sickness, and yet - in typical Paul fashion, so encouraged by his steady strength and fortitude to fight. No middle school or high school memory of mine is complete without the image/thought of the Big Man on Campus. May his sweet soul rest in peace and comfort.

I am deeply saddened to hear of Paul's passing. This is a tremendous loss for the many people whose lives he touched. Paul was a fierce competitor in the athletic arena. However, once he stepped off the mat or gridiron, he was a kind, gentle, fun loving guy who always seemed to have a smile on his face. Paul was a loyal friend to so many. During the time that I was honored to know Paul, he became not only my good friend, but one of my true heroes. God Bless you and you family Paul.

Dear Patsy and family. My heart aches for all of you . I knew Paul from the time he was a little kid playing football right up until I left Richmond 10 years ago. What a fine young man he was. Patsy, I especialy know what your pain is and I wish there was somthing I could say to ease it. Talk to him every day and know he hears you and that helps a little. Tonya and kids, know that Paul has some pretty good company in heaven and he will always hear you whenever you talk to him and do that every day. Gain strength from each other and may God bless all of you.
