Ann Moore Obituary

Published by Bliley's Funeral Home - Staples Mill from Apr. 15 to Apr. 16, 2010.
MOORE, Ann Kelly Williams, 81, of Richmond, died Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at her home after a 40-year-long battle with breast cancer. Ann graduated from Longwood College in 1950 with a B.A. in art. She taught elementary art in the Richmond public schools until she married the late John Beverly Williams in 1954, whereupon she settled happily into married life and, eventually, motherhood. Ann was an active lifelong member of River Road United Methodist Church where she sang soprano for many years in the church choir. She was also active in the Sleepy Hollow Garden Club. Her beloved John died in 1968 from cancer, and while she never forgot him, she eventually found a loving partner in the late Isaac Cecil Moore whom she married in 1973. Cecil legally adopted Ann's three children and gave them the surname Moore. Ann is survived by three loving children and their families, John Lee and Willette Moore, their children, Dustin Moore and Cassie Osterbind, and great-grandson, Caleb Brandon; Beverly and George Griswold, their sons, Jared and Cody Griswold; and Martha Bell, and her daughter, Zo‰ Bell. Ann is also survived by two brothers, Alonzo H. and John T. Kelly; and a faithful and loving son-in-law, Keith Bell. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 16 at Bliley's - Staples Mill, 8510 Staples Mill Road. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 17 at River Road United Methodist Church, 8800 River Road, Richmond, Va. 23229. Interment will follow at Westhampton Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

I do not know your family, however, I am a widowed mom of two young boys and I am battling stage IV breast cancer. The fact that Mrs. Moore battled breast cancer for 40 years has given me HOPE...Thank you for those words and God bless your family.

Certainly saddened to her of Ann's death. In every memory I have of her she is smiling and beaming with such a loving and positive attitude. She added such vitality to Cecil's life and we were so lucky and proud to have her( all as well as the rest of you) as part of our family. The pain of loss must be strong now but as it fades I'm sure the memories of her special love will always be with you.
