HALE, Frances Edwards, age 101, of Richmond, Va., passed away on September 17, 2008. She was born in Edwardsville, Va., to the late John and Maude Edwards. She was preceded in death in 1971 by her husband, Oswald K. Hale Jr. She is survived by her son, Oswald K. Hale III, and daughter-in-law, Mary G. Hale, of Richmond, Va.; her daughter, Katheryne Hale West, and son-in-law, Ralph W. West, of Arlington, Va.; her close nephew, Granville Booth Edwards Jr. of Edwardsville, Va., and his family, as well as other nieces and nephews; her five grandchildren, R. Whitaker West of Tempe, Ariz., Diana K. Short of N. Attleboro, Mass., Lynn H. Riggs, Lisa H. Lugar and Todd S. Hall, all of Richmond, Va.; and her six great-grandchildren. She graduated from Mary Washington University and taught math and science for 43 years, 33 years in Washington, D.C, at Kramer Jr. High School, and 10 years in Prince Georges County, Md., at Stephen Decatur Jr. High School. She was a member of Ryland Methodist Church in Washington, D.C., and Boulevard Methodist Church in Richmond, Va. She was also a member of ADK Educational Sorority. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2008 at 2 p.m. at Gibeon Baptist Church, Village, Va. Interment will follow. Memorial contributions may be made to Lakewood Manor in Richmond, Va.

I remember Mrs Hale from Kramer Jr High . She was a very dedicated educator and one of the nice teachers too. My deepest sympathy to her family. and friends

I remember the many early mornings when Aunt Frannie had pound cake waiting for me when I got off work at the hospital. We will never forget her smile and will celebrate her life.
