George Conner Obituary

CONNER, George Arthur, of North Carolina, formerly of Richmond, departed this life December 30, 2009 in Reidsville, N.C. He retired as Chief Petty Officer from the U.S. Navy, was a member of the American Legion, worked in stocks and bonds on Wall Street and also taught in North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elizabeth and Simmie Conner. He is survived by his wife, Estelle Conner; two sons, George and Kenneth Conner; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Evelyn Hawkins (John) and Thelma Conyers; three brothers, Joseph Connor (Murtle), Simmie Conner Jr. and William Connor (Angie); one stepdaughter, 40 nieces and nephews, 65 great-nieces and nephews, a host of other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Mimms Funeral Home, 1827 Hull Street. Funeral service will be held Friday, January 8, 11 a.m. at Crusade for Christ Christian Ministries, 2337 Clearfield Street. Bishop John L. Harris, pastor, officiating. Interment Maury Cemetery.
