GROOMS, Phyllis Jean Thomas, departed this life as gracefully as she lived on January 10, 2010. Born February 14, 1945 and predeceased by her parents, Mary Lee Hall Thomas Adams and Laymon Lewis Thomas Sr.; brothers, Laymon Lewis Thomas Jr., Bruce Pendleton Thomas and Charles Edwards Thomas. She is survived by her children, Wendy Patricia Grooms Little and her husband, Lawrence Allan Little, James Thomas Grooms Jr., Julie Anne Grooms and Kimberly Paige Grooms. Also cherishing her memory are her grandson, Eryn Allan Little and her brother, Kenneth Allen Thomas Sr. and his wife, Patricia and numerous other relatives and friends. Phyllis was employed with Spring Arbor of Richmond and her family is forever grateful for the compassion offered by the management and staff. The family is additionally thankful for the fine support and care offered by the Hospice of Virginia at Retreat Hospital. She was a long time member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She graciously donated her remains to science for research and education. The family will receive friends Saturday, January 16, 1 to 4 p.m. at Spring Arbor of Richmond, 9991 Ridgefield Parkway, Richmond, Va. 23233, where an Eastern Star Memorial will be conducted at 2 p.m. Interment private. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the National Foundation for Cancer Research or the American Cancer Society.

Phyllis fought a good fight and never complained about how bad she felt. She had many Eastern Star friends who will miss her. Our sympathy is extended to all her family.
