Byron T. Bartlett, Jr., loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away Aug. 28, 2010 in Canoga Park.
Born to Byron and Delina Bartlett in Old Town Maine on May 16, 1930. Byron joined the Navy in 1951 and met his wife Kikue while stationed at Atsugi Japan. They were soon married and shortly after moved to San Diego. Byron and Kikue lived in Oxnard from 1968 -1971 and again from 1972-2007 when he had a heart attack and was moved to a skilled nursing facility in Canoga Park.
Byron was preceded in death by his loving wife of 48 years.
He is survived by his brother, Donald Bartlett of Waterville, Maine, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his son, Byron T. Bartlett III of Santa Maria, daughter-in-law, Patricia, and grandson, Daniel; other grandsons, Byron T. Bartlett IV of Camarillo, David J. Bartlett of Augusta, Ga., and their families.
Byron retired from the Navy in 1971 and in 1973 opened Bartlett's Lawnmower Shop in Oxnard as owner and operator for 34 years. In the last several years before his heart attack much of his time was devoted to caring for his ailing wife.
Friends are invited to attend a memorial service at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 16 at The Harbor Community Church, 3100 Preble Ave., Ventura.

Byron was simply a great guy. I was a customer of his for many years. He was a true gentleman. He helped me so many times with repairs on my home lawn equipment. Even by the phone he walked me through the process in my engine rebuild. Craftsman like him a rare breed these days. RIP Byron.
