Florrine Culbertson Obituary

"Flo," as she was known to her friends and family, was born April 17, 1925 and passed away Oct. 1, 2010 in Ventura.

Flo was born in Hawthorn, Calif., and continued to live in California all of her life. She worked at North American Aviation in her early years. In 1964, she met a handsome entrepreneur, Jim Culbertson, who became the love of her life for 43 years. After two years of courting in the San Fernando Valley, they married in 1966 and moved to Ventura.

Throughout her life, she and Jim shared laughter, travel, friends, family and fun. They sailed for many years in their various sailboats, venturing to the Santa Cruz, Catalina and Hawaiian Islands. Together they bicycled, danced, traveled in their RV and went on cruises. They have been active members and supporters of the Ventura Yacht Club since 1966 and have many, special friends there today, still. Flo also loved to play bridge and joined in with different groups around Ventura and Santa Paula.

She is survived by her husband, Jim Culbertson of Ventura; daughter, Shirley Campbell, of Ojai; and granddaughters, Megan and Jennifer Campbell. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, June and Louis Vaughn of Fallbrook, Calif.; nephew, Duke Vaughn, wife, Deane and several other nieces and nephews throughout the U.S.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Humane Society of Ventura County, 402 Bryant St., Ojai, CA 93023.
