02/09/30 to 12/25/2010 Robert Fowler Sr. was taken home to celebrate our Savior's birth in the early hours of Christmas morning, December 25, 2010. We mourn his passing but celebrate his wonderful life.
He was a loving husband to "the first girl he ever kissed", his wife of 58 years, Kay Fowler and a devoted father to four children; Kathleen Fowler Ellis (who was waiting for him in heaven), Robert Fowler Jr. (Melody), Maureen Fowler Sumner (John) and Michael Fowler. Grandpa Bob was a beloved story-teller and faithful supporter of his grandchildren; Trevor Ellis and wife Shauna, Ashley Sumner Young and husband Steve, Sean Fowler, Kayley Fowler and James Fowler. He was a man of honor who was loyal to God, his country and his family. He will be deeply missed by many from California to New York.
Bob's life was rich and full. He was born to Ella Mae and George Fowler and was a brother to George Fowler Jr., and sisters Gerry Fowler Keating and Patty Fowler Meister. He was raised in Peekskill, NY where he served the church as a young Altar boy, worked as a soda jerk and played football for his High School team, and as he reminded us many times helped them win the Hudson Valley league championship. Bob married the love of his life, Kay Fowler in 1952 and then left to proudly serve his country in the Korean War as a First Lt. He returned home from the war to his young bride and embarked upon his career. Bob and Kay settled in Port Washington out on Long Island and shared many happy times raising their young family and cherished friends. In 1969 a career opportunity led him to move his family to Palos Verdes, California. The family then settled in Thousand Oaks.
His entrepreneurial spirit led him to many business ventures, but in 1976 he established K.B. Fowler Trucking which continues to this day. Bob was very proud of what he accomplished and cared deeply about his employees and customers. Bob loved the ocean and sailing and spent countless hours on his many boats with his wife Kay and children off our coast and around the Channel Islands. Those days on the water have created lasting memories for them all. Kay and Bob enjoyed traveling together and went on adventures to Hawaii and Mexico. They chartered a boat through the Caribbean and took a dream trip to the land of his fathers; Ireland where Bob had the temerity to sing Danny Boy to the Irish in an Irish pub (there wasn't a dry eye in the house).
He was known for his sense of humor, wealth of sayings and clich's for all occasions, ever-present smile and his ability to look on the bright side of things... no one that met Bob, forgot Bob. His heart was innately kind and he genuinely loved people, most of all his wife and his family. As we mourn, he would remind us to take things "one day at a time, sweet Jesus." and know we will see him again one day.
A favorite saying he would spontaneously quote to people, (strangers and family alike) is a traditional Irish blessing; May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face; the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand. Until we meet again we will remember you with love-your family. In celebration of Bob's life a Memorial Service will be held on Friday, December 31, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park, Camarillo.

Kay and the entire Fowler family and friends, my deepest sympathy in the passing of Bob Sr. He was a great guy and the most fun to be around. I can remember the great parties we had at the old Bahia Cabrillo Apartment and Yacht club. He could really sing Danny Boy, you could hear it all the way to heaven!

My most sincere sympathy and condolences. Bob was a true friend and I enjoyed working with him (and the family). His stories were endless and funny. He was a man of many hats from
trucker to sailor to cowboy (John Wayne
would have been proud).I was anxious each morning to hear what his next endeavor would be. He was a man of his
word, a man you could trust , a man you could rely on, without a doubt the
best logistics services 3M/Imation ever used. My hat is off to you Bob.

As for me, Bob is simply out on a "special delivery" and we'll all get to see him again. Until then, this larger-than-life guy shall forever live in my heart and mind as "a class act"

Dear Fowler Family -
Bob worked for my company, C.I. Industries, that I owned together with Steve Claybaugh in Westlake. Bob took care of our investor owned apartment buildings in the San Fernando Valley that we had under management.
He always delivered and was a great guy to have around. His excellent maintenance supervision was only exceeded by his irrepressible good spirits. He was a larger than life kind of guy that everyone appreciated and no one ever forgot.
Good bye Bob, thanks for the memories.

Bob and Mike and the entire family, my condolences and prayers go out to you today and always. Your dad was truly 'unforgettable'! I ran into him in Camarillo maybe a year ago and bought him a sandwich at Nona's. It was my pleasure as we at 3M/Imation were always treated well by the entire Fowler clan. God bless you all and Rest In Peace Bob Sr!

Bob, I just read this morning regarding the passing of your father. He was a very memorable and affable fellow. Truly, the eyes of the Irish are smiling upon him. May he RIP, and be peace be with you and your family.
