ERIC MITCHELL Obituary
ERIC D. MITCHELL January 3, 1966 - August 18, 2017
Beloved son, brother to six siblings, uncle to 15 adoring nieces and nephews, Eric passed away peacefully at age 51 due to complications of multiple sclerosis. Eric was a graduate of Georgetown Prep, Yale University (where he starred on the basketball team), and Georgetown University Law Center. In 2013 he and his brother, Tom, founded The Mitchell Firm PLLC in Washington, DC. Eric also enjoyed a passionate devotion to golf during his many years at Columbia Country Club. He is survived by his parents, Glenn and Sylvia Mitchell of Chevy Chase, MD; brothers, Christopher, Thomas, Byron, and Michael; and sisters, Stefanie (Waite) and Karen. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, August 23 at 12 Noon at Little Flower Catholic Church, 5607 Massachusetts Ave., Bethesda, MD 20816. Reception to follow at Columbia Country Club. Interment on August 25 in Charlotte, VT. In lieu of flowers a memorial donation may be made to Georgetown Prep or the National MS Society.

Erik was a joy to teach and to know. Such a talented, principled, and good man. He was a man of the law -- a seeker after justice. The Book of Wisdom assures us that "The souls of the just are in the Hand of God." Erik is certainly numbered among them. Please know that Erik and the whole Mitchell family are in my thoughts and prayers. May he rest in peace.
