Dennis Anthony Surovcik, 70, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 26, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.
He leaves behind his everlasting love and memories for his wife, Marianne Logan Surovcik. They shared 42 years of marriage together.
Dennis is also survived by his son, Dennis Surovcik II and wife, Christine of Scottsdale, AZ; his daughters, Jeannette of Richmond, VA, and Megan Havrilla and her husband, John of Exeter, RI; grandchildren, Juliette, Siena and Jaxon; sister-in-law, Linda Surovcik; brother and sister-in-law, Anthony and Deborah Logan; as well as several nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his brother, Rudolph P. Surovcik in 2009.
Born on October 25, 1946 in Coaldale, Dennis was the son of the late Rudolph and Verna Racko Surovcik and was a 1964 graduate of Marian High School in Tamaqua, PA, earning accolades as a member of the varsity football team. He went on to play football at Susquehanna University and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting.
After graduating from college, Dennis served in the military from 1968 to 1974, earning honorable discharge as a member of the Army National Guard and Army Reserve. Throughout his professional career, he held a number of positions in the finance and accounting sector, with companies like PricewaterhouseCoopers, Steridyne Industries, as well as DENTSPLY, which brought he and Marianne to York in 1974. He would later own a CPA firm, Moran & Surovcik. A longtime resident of Manchester Township, Dennis was a member of the Immaculate Conception BVM Church in York.
Friends and loved ones are asked to pay their respect on Friday, May 12 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception BVM Church, 309 S. George Street, York. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the church immediately following at 11 o'clock, with the Rev. Jonathan Sawicki as celebrant. An interment will be privately held at Holy Saviour Cemetery in York with military honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard.
Dennis' family would like to acknowledge the extraordinary care he received from the ALS Program at Penn State Hershey Medical Center, Caring Hospice Services and Right At Home.
In lieu of flowers, his family would appreciate memorial contributions to be made to Immaculate Conception BVM Church or to The ALS Association of the Greater Philadelphia Chapter, 321 Norristown Road, Unit 260, Ambler, PA 19002.
