Arthur Walsh Obituary

WALSH, ARTHUR E., SR., 88, died Saturday, September 29, 2007 at his residence in Binghamton, N.Y. after a long illness. He was also a resident of East Providence. He was the husband of Josephine Walsh. He was also the husband of the late Marie (Donovan) Walsh.

He was born in Taunton a son of the late George and Rachel (Springer) Walsh. Mr. Walsh worked for over 38 years for ARCO and was one of their best salesman. After retiring from ARCO he worked for DeBlois Oil Company for 11 years and Drew Oil Company for 2 years before finally retiring in 1991. He served in the United States Marine Corps in the late 1930s.

He was the devoted father of The Right Reverend Arthur E. Walsh Jr. of East Providence, William M. Walsh and his wife Elaine of North Providence, Thomas F. Walsh of East Providence and Ann M. Bubier and her husband Raymond of Exeter; two sisters, Ruth Hartley of New Hampshire and Elsie Smith of Fall River and three granddaughters. He was the brother of the late Marian Fairhurst and Evelyn Quental.

His funeral will be held Wednesday at 9 A.M. from the PERRY-McSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. in St. Margaret's Church, Pawtucket Avenue. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours Tuesday 5-8.

I loved Arthur-he was a very close friend of mine here in Binghamton, NY. He was a very caring man and we enjoyed many talks while I visited him and his wife Josie! They were like parents to me!

I visited in the past month and he was sick-I have been praying for him! GOD BLESS YOU ARTHUR-I KNOW YOU ARE AT PEACE WITH GOD IN HEAVEN! I WILL MISS YOU SO MUCH!
