Joseph Spas Obituary

SPAS, JOSEPH F., 85, of Bellingham, MA died peacefully with his family by his side on October 16, 2007. Beloved Husband of the late Helen R. (Pichie) Spas deceased 1985.

Born in Woonsocket, RI on April 30, 1922, Son of the late Daniel and Anna (Dyprey) Spas. Loving Father of Dennis Spas of Woonsocket, RI, Daniel and his wife Beverly Spas, David Spas and Joseph Spas all of Bellingham, MA, John and his wife Liz Spas of Cumberland, RI, Linda Herard of Wickford, RI, 10 Grandchildren and 4 Great-Grandchildren. Brother of Stella Pollitt of Woonsocket, RI and the late Alexander, Walter and Stanley Spas and Johanna Deffley.

Mr. Spas worked as a telephone line supervisor for New England Telephone and Bell Atlantic for 35 years retiring in 1981. He was very active in the town of Bellingham having served on the Bellingham School Committee, Board of Selectman and the Finance Committee. He was a WWII US Navy Veteran.

Funeral will be held Monday 9:00 AM from CARTIER'S FUNERAL HOME 151 So. Main St., Bellingham, MA with a Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 AM in St. Theresa Church 630 Rathbun Street Blackstone, MA. Interment St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery Bellingham, MA. Visiting Hours Sunday 3-7 PM. Reltatives and Friends are invited.

Dennis:
I am so sorry to hear of your father's passing. We were neighbors in South Bellingham back in the '50s. Perhaps you remember Jeffrey, my son. I recall the contributions your dad made to the South Bellingham community.
