Andrew Jackson Summerlin, 96, of Muskogee was born November 2, 1927 in Gore, OK to Ady Gordan and Clara Dill (Farris) Summerlin and peacefully passed away Monday, January 1, 2024 in Muskogee.
He enlisted in the United States Air Force on December 31, 1945 in Camp Chaffee, AR and was honorably discharged on December 17, 1948 in Selfridge Air Force Base, Selfridge, MI.
He later met and married the love of his life, Betty Jean Pauley on November 22, 1950 in Vinita, OK. Together they shared 74 years raising a family and making precious memories together. She preceded him in death on December 8, 2023.
Andrew was a cross country truck driver for over 15 years, retiring in 1984. He enjoyed fishing in his retirement years.
He is lovingly survived by his sons, David Lee Summerlin of Muskogee and Richard Wayne Summerlin of Live Oak, FL; three grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, a great-great grandchild; extended family and many friends. Mr. Summerlin's viewing is 5-7PM Thursday, January 18, 2024 at Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home and Crematory, Muskogee.
A celebration of Andrew's life will be 2:30PM Friday, January 19, 2024 at Fort Gibson National Cemetery Pavilion with Full Military Honors with his son, Reverend Richard Summerlin officiating.
