Ann J. Garrant, 82, of West Chazy, sadly passed away on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 surrounded by her loving family at the UVM-CVPH Medical Center.
She was a wonderful mother to us and all the strays that wound up on her door step. She had an amazing sense of humor and concern for others. She will be forever remembered and greatly missed by all she touched.
She was born in Plattsburgh on February 2, 1941, the daughter of Abraham and Dorothy (Myatt) Brean. She was one of 13 children.
She started her career working at Shield's Farm, The Ribbon Factory, Built Rite Furniture, sold Avon, worked for family at Brean and Deno's Store, and finally at the Country Corner Diner, side by side with her daughter Shelly.
She attended Chazy Central Rural School and later achieved her GED. Ann retired in 2011 then returned home to West Chazy to be close to family.
She married the love of her life on April 18, 1959 and raised 6 children.
She was a member of the West Chazy Fire department Womans Auxillary for many years. She loved the casino, camping, being outdoors, music, cooking, singing, and all her precious collections, NASCAR, baseball cards, Avon, Beanie Babies, coins,
She had many hobbies throughout her lifetime. She mostly enjoyed riding motorcycle, making her famous cakes, doing leatherwork, square dancing, knitting, crochet, and was a master at every one of them. Most of all, she loved to spend time with family and friends.
Through the years of her illness, she had some very special people that cared for her known as Angel. Couldn't have done it without you by my side.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Earl Garrant, her children; James (Kathy) Garrant, Michael (Jan) Garrant, Shelly (Neal) LaVigne, Laurie Faubert, Tammy (John) Deno, Kimberly (Linda0 Garrant, her siblings; Carolyn Deno, Charles (Georgia) Brean, Fred (Judy) Brean, John (Marsha) Brean, Rudy Brean, Mary (Wayne) BUlriss) Sherry Parrotte, and her 13 grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents Abraham and Dorothy (Myatt) Brean, her siblings; Abraham Brean Jr, Judy Brean, Patrick Brean, Dorothy McAdam, Thelma Lapierre, and a son in law Billy Faubert.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, July 22, 2023 at 11:00 am at St. Joseph's Church in West Chazy. Graveside services will follow in the parish cemetery. A Celebration of Life luncheon will follow at The Grange Hall at 9631 Route 22 in West Chazy.
