Anthony Wayne Beasley, 62, passed away on April 7, 2024, in Wanchese at his parents' home. Tony was born on March 1, 1962, in Norfolk, VA. He was the son of Betty Kay Daniels Beasley and John Buchanan Beasley. He was a military brat and lived in many places growing up, including Carolina Beach, NC; Rhodes, Greece; Biloxi, MS; Richmond, CA; Lawrence and Cape Cod, MA; the island of Saipan in the Marianas; and Dale City, VA. Tony graduated from Woodbridge Senior High School in 1980. He attended NOVA community college for one year before joining the US Air Force, where he specialized in aircraft maintenance. He retired from the Air Force in 2004 after 23 years of service. In 2006, he moved to Wanchese. In 2007, Tony began a second career working for the State. He initially worked for the NCDOT – Ferry Maintenance Division in Manns Harbor before transferring in 2011 to the Department of Agriculture in Raleigh and later to the DMV, retiring in 2019 for medical reasons. He returned to Wanchese to live with his parents.
Tony is survived by his parents; his two children, John Delbert Beasley (Desirea) and Angela Louise Beasley, both of Tacoma, WA; grandson, Braxton Beasley; Dorothy Beasley, the mother of his children; brother, James Beasley (Suzanne) of Charlotte, NC; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Tony had a great sense of humor, a smile that would light up the room, and his laugh was infectious. He was a gifted artist, and in his younger years, he loved to draw and paint, with lighthouses being one of his favorite subjects.
He will be sorely missed.
The family will hold a private memorial at a later date.
