VILLE PLATTE – A funeral service will be held at Ardoin's Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at 11:00 AM for Anthony Hampshire who passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at the age of 61. Burial will take place at the Gates of Heaven Cemetery.
Anthony was born on April 9, 1961 in Ville Platte to Marvin Leroy Hampshire and Mary Demourelle Dupre. Throughout his life, he was a butcher, forklift operator, and truck driver, but liked to take it easy by hunting, camping and fishing, especially snagging. Always one to joke around, Anthony's sarcasm and quick wit endeared him to many. He was most fond of taking care of his grandson and listening to some of his favorite music on KBON. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends.
Anthony is survived by his wife, Ruth Hampshire; children: Nicole Hampshire and her fiancé, Christopher Rider, Adam Hampshire, and stepson, Joe Fontenot; sisters, Patti Lafleur (David) of Chicot, Pam McFadden (Roland) of Indiana, Tina Leiter (Steve) of Nevada, and brother, Bryan Hampshire of Indiana; grandchildren, Elijah Hampshire and Casey Brooke Holden; 2 great-Grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Geraldine Dupre, father, Marvin Hampshire, and uncle, Jerry Demourelle.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin's Funeral Home on Monday, March 6 from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Visitation will resume Tuesday from 8:00 AM until 10:30 AM.
