Rovick, Arne Marvin age 77, passed away on September 8th from complications of a long, hard fought battle with Parkinson's disease. Born on May 15, 1944, in Minneapolis, MN, Arne treasured his childhood on Park Avenue South and was well known for being the only boy at all girls' birthday parties throughout the neighborhood. Affectionately known as "Rover," he was voted Class President and "Most Likely to Succeed" at Washburn High School where he not only graduated with the Bausch and Lomb Award, but also with a lifelong poker group that brought him 5o years of coin bets and comradery. To no surprise, he was accepted to both colleges he applied to and was wisely advised by a friend to attend Dartmouth College (instead of an engineering school) simply because he would just have "a lot more fun!" Indeed he did. From his favorite Phi Delt brothers to his dedicated ski buddies and esteemed Tuck classmates, Arne's college stories became legendary and his friendships an integral part of his daily life for years to come. With an A.B. and MBA in hand, Arne continued his academic pursuits at the University of Minnesota Law School while taking two years to serve his country as Captain in the U.S. Army. The only thing that seemed to distract him from his studies was the love of his life, Edie. Married in 1972, they celebrated 49 wonderful years together, filled with adventures around the globe and the most adored memories of intimate dinners together with friends and family in their beautiful Arizona, Minnesota and Florida homes. The birth of their only child, Lindsay, created his cherished family of three. Arne's years in Phoenix as a Partner at Evans, Kitchel & Jenckes Law Firm gave him many career highlights, but he found his true joy in returning to his home state of Minnesota to work as Vice Chairman and General Counsel at Edina Realty, the beloved company his Aunt Emma founded. Always living by the motto "Work Hard, Play Hard," Arne pursued his love of downhill skiing annually, be it heli-skiing in the Canadian Rockies or patiently teaching Lindsay on the Colorado slopes. His love of golf not only led him to the Presidency of Interlachen Country Club, but also years of friendly bets and banter on dozens of courses with the best of buddies. Ultimately, the birth of his three precious grandchildren brought him the most joy as he spent his later years known as "Poobah" to Mia, Alessa and Leo. A constant fixture at their school plays and sporting events, Arne could always be spotted by his huge grin, beaming with pride. A highly accomplished, yet humble man full of integrity, a devoted friend, a cherished husband, a doting father and grandfather, Arne will forever be remembered for his brilliant mind, quick wit, gentle heart and generous spirit that touched everyone he encountered. He is survived by his wife, Edie, his daughter, Lindsay (Lou) and his three grandchildren, Mia, Alessa and Leo. He also leaves behind his twin sister, Ann Rovick, older brother, John Rovick (Karen), and nephews Eric and Peter. A service is being planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research online at michaeljfox.org or via mail at P.O. Box 5014, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5014.
