BRUCE ALLEN CHAMBERS

Bethel – Bruce Allen Chambers, age 65, passed away Saturday, August 13, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loved ones.

Bruce was born July 3, 1957 in Haywood County and had been employed with Evergreen Packaging where he retired with 38 years of dedicated service. Mr. Chambers was a man with a kind and caring heart and he had served as the President of the Santa Pal Program for children in our community for more than 25 years. He enjoyed sports and had coached youth league baseball and basketball for several years. Everyone who knew Bruce was well aware of his loyal allegiance to UNC basketball-he was a true Tarheel fan! Bruce was proud of his mountain heritage and of where he was born and raised, yet he also enjoyed traveling and visiting new places. Mr. Chambers was a member of Burnette Siding Baptist Church where he had also served as a Sunday school teacher. He was a friend to everyone and he will be forever remembered as a wonderful husband, dad, papaw, and brother who loved his family and his Lord. Bruce was a man who was true to his word and was a blessing to everyone that knew him all throughout his life.

Bruce was preceded in death by his father, Johnny Chambers; his mother, Joann Ledbetter and step-father, Roy Ledbetter; his son, Michael Chambers; and his brother, Roger Chambers.

Survivors include his loving wife of 17 years, Rebecca Edwards Chambers of Bethel; children, David Chambers (Ashley) of Bethel, Jason Queen (Nan) of Swannanoa, Casey Queen of Canton, Tim Sawyer of Canton, Lance Queen (Jocie) of Canton, and Mikel Queen (Lindsay) of Bethel; grandchildren, Diesel, Naomi, Savannah, Chloe, Peyton, Maggie, Kerry, Shea, Cole, David, Abigail, and Rayna; great-grandchildren, Dre, Hennley, and Hendrix; sisters, Debbie Sorrells (Danny) of Bethel, Anita Inman (Peanut) of Bethel, and Janet Howell (Stephen) of Bethel; and daughter-in-law, April Chambers.

A gathering of family and friends to celebrate the life of Bruce will be held at Crestview Baptist Church from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm Saturday, August 20, 2022.
