David Clarke Sr. Born on February 5th 1973 in Poughkeepsie NY passed away unexpectedly on August 9th 2024 with his wife and son by his side. David grew up in Poughkeepsie NY and graduated from Franklin D. Roosevelt High School in 1991.
David's passion was coaching youth basketball. David met the love of his life Victoria Heald in 2007 and they quickly built a life together in Maine. After moving to Maine David worked and coached basketball in various locations becoming an invaluable asset in the basketball community. David was determined to have an impact on everyone he came in contact with.
In 2023 David founded The Maine Wildcats a non profit AAU basketball program for high school boys. David worked tirelessly fundraising so that his boys could play regardless of their financial situation. Team building was a huge piece of his mission statement.
David was predeceased by his father Burnett Clarke and his daughter's mother Jennifer Papula. He is survived by his mother Norah Thomas, wife Victoria Heald-Clarke his children Dasan Mitchell of Kalamazoo MI, Jasmine Clarke (Boogie) of Poughkeepsie NY, Wunand Clarke of Kalamazoo MI, David Clarke Jr (manster) of Auburn ME, his siblings Devon Gardner of Woodbridge, VA, Monique Clarke of Poughkeepsie, NY and many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. David was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
