Mr. David F. Shepherd

David F. Shepherd, 89, of Columbus, passed from this life Monday, August 5, 2024 at his home.
David was born August 10, 1934, in Bloomington, Indiana, the son of Samuel E. and Cora A. Medaris Shepherd.
Mr. Shepherd ran the Amity Grocery Store until 1967 and then went to work for Cummins Engine Company. He enjoyed mushroom hunting and playing Euchre. David was also an avid woodworker. He was a proud papaw that loved to talk about his grandkids to whomever would listen. He will be deeply missed by those that know and love him.
Survivors include his children, Michael (Laura) Shepherd, Teresa (Randy) Reeves, Steven Shepherd, all of Columbus, Nicole (Trevor) Wylie of Hawaii; grandchildren, Wendi (Matt) Thompson, Christopher Shepherd, Angela Supernovich, Joshua Lowry, Daniel Reeves, Kimberly Reeves, Ryan Shepherd, Matthew Shepherd, Lucas Wylie, Cooper Wylie, Tristan Wylie and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, David F. Shepherd, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Dawn Shepherd.
The funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. Saturday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastor Ed Boston officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the funeral home. A live stream of the funeral service may be viewed at 12:00 p.m. Saturday at barkesweaverglick.com.
Burial will take place at Rest Haven Cemetery. Military honors will be presented by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard.
