David "Dave" Edward Stephens of Anadarko, Oklahoma passed from this life on July 3, 2022 near Anadarko, Oklahoma at the age of 68. He was born July 8, 1953 in Lawton, Oklahoma to Marion Ingram and Vivian Stephens.
Dave lived in Anadarko most of his life. He attended & graduated from Chilocco Indian School. Dave joined the Army and proudly served our country from 1971 to 1974. When he returned he attended and graduated college from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Oklahoma with his bachelors degree. He did spend a few years in Phoenix, Arizona and worked as a social worker then came back to his hometown of Anadarko where he continued his profession as a social worker for the Department of Human Services. He worked at Dietrich golf course and was a farm hand for Jim White.
He was a proud member of the Wichita Tribe.
Dave enjoyed golfing, walking, riding bikes, being with his friends and going to the casino.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Solange "Mimi" Stephens of Phoenix, Arizona; son, Eric Stephens & wife, Tabitha of Anadarko; daughter, Jennifer Marie Stephens of Canada; 7 sisters: Christina Stephens of Anadarko, Elizabeth "Annie" Tissychy of Anadarko, Mary Ahdunko of Anadarko, Martha McCurdy of Hardin, Montana, Amy Gomez of Watonga, Roxanne Coker & husband, Darin of Anadarko & Carol Jean McCurdy of Chickasha; 5 grandchildren: Gianna Stephens, Mathew Stephens, Nathan Stephens, Alexia & Angelina; numerous other grandkids; step children: Lynn Kremer, Jerry Eaves, BIlly Eaves & Jason Eaves; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends,
Dave is preceded in death by his parents, Marion Ingram & Vivian Stephens McCurdy; brother, Sean Stephens; sister, Suzie Ellen & step daughter, Kelly Ann Eaves.
Pallbearers are: Darin Coker, Daniel Gomez, Michael McCathern, Reno McLemore, James Coker, Kevin Marquez, James Marquez & Mathew Stephens.
Honorary Pallbearers are: Randy Threeirons, Brian Wetselline, Jarrod Threeirons, Dylan Threeirons, Deyton McCathern, Montana Threeirons, Malachi Threeirons, Ayden McCathern, Chris McLemore, Dakota McLemore & Nathan Stephens.
Prayer service will he held at 7:00 P.M., Monday, July 11, 2022 at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Anadarko.
Funeral services with military honors will be at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Anadarko. Brother Ryan Smith will officiate. Burial will follow in the Wichita (Rock Spring) Cemetery, north of Anadarko. Services are under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Anadarko.
