David Turano, Esq. Obituary
David Andrew Turano, age 77, of Columbus, Ohio passed away peacefully on Tuesday February 27, 2024 after a four month battle with a brain tumor. He was born in Ashtabula, Ohio on September 9, 1946, the son of Egidio and Mary (Bartko). David Graduated from Ashtabula High School in 1964, then went on to earn a bachelor degree in education from Kent State University, from there he attended the Ohio State Law School and earned a Juris Doctor Degree in 1971. David practiced law up until the time he became ill. He began his law career working for the Public Utility Commission of Ohio, then became an associate partner of the law firm, George, Greek, King, McMahon, and McConnahey working his way to a partnership which ultimately merged with the firm Baker and Hostetler. He was an expert on transportation matters involving the Interstate Commerce Commission, the Department of Transportation, and the Public Utility Commission of Ohio. David was a member of the Ohio Bar Association, Columbus Bar Association, and the Transportation Lawyers Association.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Egidio and Mary Turano, his in-laws, John and Betty Emmel, and an infant grandson, Tyler Turano.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Joy (Emmel)Turano. They met in high school sixty years ago and were married August 29, 1970, David's senior year of law school. He is also survived by his four children and their spouses, Aaron (Lillian), Thad (Karen), Bethen (Matthew) Johnson, and Kyle. As they were growing up he coached them in soccer, baseball, and attended many of their sports activities in high school and college encouraging them along the way. He was an amazing grandfather to ten beautiful grandchildren whom he adored. Blake, Braydon, Gianna, Adelynn, Ryker, Eleanor, Quinley, Boden, Keegan, and Tinley. He always told the kids he didn't do recitals but, let me tell you, he was there for everyone of them enjoying every minute cheering them on.
David is also survived by his brother, Michael and his sister, Delaina Hofacre, a niece and several nephews. His sister-in-law, Sandra Moore, her son, Brian (Kathy) and daughter, Bethany (Rick) and all their children whom he was very fond of.
David loved watching the Cleveland Indians, Browns, and The Ohio State Buckeyes. He attended games especially when Kyle played for the Buckeyes.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 am to 10:30 am on March 11, 2024 at St. Andrew Parish 1899 MCCoy Rd. Columbus, Ohio 43220. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am with Fr. Michael Watson, Celebrant.
In Lieu of flowers, if desired, contributions can be made to The Ohio Health Hospice or the Kobacher House 800 McConnell Dr. Columbus, Ohio 43214.
