Dennis J. Parrington, at the age of 65, a longtime resident of Lowell and Dracut, passed away peacefully on Wednesday August 21, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in the middle of 10 kids, Dennis loved being with his siblings. They were his best friends, opponents in card games, and partners in horseshoes. His favorite food was hot dogs and beans, meatball subs, Chinese food or McDonald's. He always had a sprite to wash everything down. Sprite was his way of 'settling down' from the wilder Mountain Dew that he loved when he was younger.
Carrying a nickname of 'Mouse', Dennis is fondly remembered as a family man, an adventurous and clever person, that never had idle hands. If he was not stoking the fire, he was planning silly pranks on his loved ones. He was a simple man and thrived on getting people to smile. As he got older, he found it relaxing when he was listening to his birds, and watching TV, but his quick wit and sense of humor never slowed.
A devoted son, Dennis made certain to check in on his mom, Marion Parrington (Hughes) at least once a week, and she always looked forward to those conversations, and hearing how his week is going. They had an incredibly special bond, and though his mobility became difficult he would still find a way to get over to visit her, even for a just few minutes.
Dennis very much enjoyed the time spent with his daughter, Kelly (Parrington) and her husband Nicholas Silvestrone, at their home in Freedom, New Hampshire. There, he felt free and loved being submersed in the beautiful, wooded scenery. Nature and good company gave him greatest pleasure.
Dennis also shared an amazing connection with his sister, Linda Parrington. The two were considered Irish twins with their ages being less than a year apart. Together they were a dynamic duo, seeking many adventures, and gaining many memories.
Dennis never complained when presented with an obstacle. He found it as an opportunity, and he gratefully accepted help from his family to climb any mountains life put in front of him. His nickname was Mouse, but he defied the odds many times, like a cat, having 9 lives.
He had many nieces and nephews and taught them all how to live life to the fullest, explore, create, and take the downfalls as a chance to grow stronger. His strength was seen even in the eyes of his younger great nieces and nephews. He taught them to face hurdles head on, while sharing comical one liners, putting a smile on everyone's face.
Dennis is survived by his mother Marion Parrington (most know her as Nana Parrington), his daughter Kelly (Parrington) Silvestrone and her husband Nicholas, a brother Albert Parrington Jr of Lowell, a Sister in Law Marykate Parrington of Dracut, a sister Jane and her Husband Lance Fisher of Nashua NH, a sister Linda Parrington of Dracut, a brother Larry Parrington and his wife Lisa of Dracut, a sister Joan and her Husband Dave Marais, a brother Jeff Parrington and his wife Kathy of Dracut, a brother John Parrington and his wife Kelly of Londonderry NH, and many, many nieces and nephews and very close friends.
Dennis was predeceased by his Father Albert Parrington, brother James (Jim) Parrington and his niece Katie Parrington.
Dennis did not want anyone to mourn his passing. Instead, he wanted us to gather and remember some of his wild antics, favorite foods, and enjoy each other's company. As a result, there will be no funeral services. Instead, a Celebration of his Life will be held privately by his family.
