Dina Chavez

Dina Chavez, 74, retired paralegal, passed peacefully into eternal life on Friday, December 1, 2023, surrounded by her loving family at home. Rosary will be at 10:30 am, Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 am, both on Monday, December 11, 2023, at Holy Savior Catholic Church. Preceded in death by her parents, Noel and Amanda Sarria; brothers, Ray Sarria, Roger Sarria. Survived by her husband, Oscar A. Chavez; daughters, Nancy D. Chavez, Debbie Chavez; brother, Norman Sarria; grandchildren, Vivian Chavez, Diego Chavez-Lewis; honorary daughter, Deyanira Lopez.
Dina fell in love at the young age of 18 to Oscar Chavez in 1968 in San Francisco, CA. They celebrated 55 years of marriage in August.
Dina was an active member of Marriage Encounter, Women's Soccer and Couples Soccer clubs. She took numerous cooking classes at the YMCA. One week she would prepare Chinese food, the next Italian, always a surprise. Dina loved being pampered at the hair and nail salon, usually taking her daughters with her.
She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, nana, sister, and daughter. She was strong in her faith, generous, selfless, and sassy. Her family and God were the center of her life.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with Holy Savior Catholic Church, 3000 E. 13th Street N., Wichita, KS 67214. Services in care of Downing & Lahey Mortuary - West Chapel.
