Dora Faye O'Neill, a spirited and compassionate soul, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2025, in
Katy, Texas, at the age of 78. Born on October 22, 1946, in Fort Worth, Texas, Dora lived a life filled with creativity, determination, and love.
Dora spent much of her life in the serene mountains of southwest Rye, Colorado, where she cherished the tranquility and abundant wildlife. In 2009, she moved to Houston, Texas, to be closer to family. Though she did not serve in the military, she took immense pride in her son, a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the Army, and was a steadfast supporter of the Wounded Warrior Project.
A woman of many talents, Dora was exceptionally crafty. She found joy in sewing, jewelry-making, and coloring, always creating beauty with her hands. She also had a passion for baking, delighting family and friends with her decadent chocolate and lemon apricot cakes. Dora's big sweet tooth mirrored her big heart.
Her interests were as diverse as her talents. She loved true crime shows and programs about the outdoors and animals. Her love for nature was deeply rooted in her time in the mountains, a place she described as her sanctuary. She enjoyed getting her nails done and never left the house without a nice outfit on and her hair done. Dora also had a profound compassion for animals, especially dogs, and shared a special bond with her beloved toy poodle, Rozell, who preceded her in death in 2020.
Dora will be remembered for her feisty and strong-willed nature. Once she made up her mind, there was no changing it. Yet, she was equally compassionate, always ready to help those in need and lend a kind word or a helping hand. Her grandchildren, who lovingly called her Granny, were her greatest source of pride and joy.
Dora is survived by her loving family: her daughters Laura Green, Sandi Meier and husband Steve; her son George O'Neill Jr. and wife Heidi; her cherished grandchildren Anthony Meier, Holly Meier, Elena O'Neill, Bryn O'Neill, Raine Margoliner, Jeffrey Burge, and Alyssa Burge; and her devoted nieces and nephews Rhonda Garcia and husband Beto, Tina Stremmel and husband Paul, Shawne Rotramel and wife Katrina, and Gwenn Damian and partner Larry Williams.
She is preceded in death by her father Charles Dora Rozell, her mother Thelma Frances Price, her sister Carol Ann Theriot, and her brother-in-law Ames Theriot.
Dora Faye O'Neill's legacy of love, creativity, and strength will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
