Dorothy Brewster Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Helgeson Funeral Home - Warroad on Dec. 27, 2023.
Dorothy Brewster passed away December 20, 2023 at the age of 91.
Dorothy was born on February 8, 1932 at the Warroad Hospital to Harbe (Herb) and Ida (Larson) Halvorson. She attended country school in Swift through the 6th grade when she transferred to Warroad High School, graduating in 1950. Dorothy was married to Jed Brewster for 25 years. They had 5 children.
She was a homemaker for many years, also working at the Marvins office until retirement. She loved to sew and sewed a lot of cloths when the kids were growing up. Dorothy also quilted, embroidered, crocheted, knitting, reading, and mowing grass with the riding lawn mower. She enjoyed baking homemade breads and cinnamon rolls. There was always something baking when her kids got home from school.
Dorothy volunteered as an EMT, she worked for Roseau County Senior Travel driving seniors to their medical appointments. She also worked at the thrift store. Dorothy attended the Williams Community Church for many years, which she enjoyed very much. She also helped many pink lady slippers from being destroyed by road work on Highway 11.
She is survived by her children Carol Brewster (Earl Vlcek) of Warroad, Judi (Paul) Barrington of Dallas, Robert (Julie) Brewster of Colorado Springs, Sue Brewster of Warroad, and Janet Brewster of East Grand Forks; grandchildren Andrea, John, Katie, Anthony, Erik, Ethan, and Morgan; great-grandchildren Caden, Chance, Owen, Elijah, Devin, Layla, Mason, Abel, and Thor; and many nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents Harbe and Ida; brothers Ebb and Dean; grandchild Emily; half brothers and sisters Helmer Halvorson, Josephine Halvorson, Carolyn Braun, and Harriet Halvorson.
A Graveside Service will be held later this spring at Riverside Cemetery in Warroad.
