Frank James Biddinger, a/k/a "Jim" and "Biddy", of Charlotte, NC passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 9, 2023. He was born on December 30, 1935, in Marion, IN, son of the late Thurman Arthur Biddinger and his wife Florence McKaughan.
Jim was a graduate of the Indiana University Law School and a lifelong Hoosier fan. He was a US Army Veteran and spent part of his service in Germany.
He spent many years as an attorney with Biddinger & Johnson in Marion, IN. He served as Indiana State Senator for Grant and Blackford counties from 1966-1970 before working as Public Counselor from 1974-1981. He led the Indiana Gas Association as President from 1984-2001 before retiring to Redington Shores, FL. He and his wife Mary Lou (Liepse) moved to Charlotte, NC in 2016.
Jim loved to golf with his friends and was a member at Crooked Stick Country Club and Wolf Run Golf Club in greater Indianapolis, IN before joining Seminole Lake Country Club in Seminole, FL after his retirement. He made many trips to Monterey, CA with family and friends and it was one of his favorite places to visit.
He is survived by Mary Lou (Liepse) Biddinger, his wife of 66 years. His older daughter Jenny Funk lives in Fort Mill, South Carolina with her husband Jim Funk; their children are James Biddinger Funk (wife Anna Finn) of Santa Cruz, CA; Jack Funk of Greenville, SC; and Jordan Funk of Charlotte, NC. His younger daughter Nancy Biddinger resides in Noblesville, IN. His sister Betty Ann (Biddinger) Cleaver resides in Lafayette, IN.
