Michael Byrne, aged 84, passed away peacefully on October 19th, 2025. He is now at peace and serenity with the God he understands in Heaven.
Born on October 13th, 1941, in York ,Yorkshire, England, he was the son of the late Stanley and Phyllis Bryne. He is survived by his son, Paul in Hendersonville, Nc and his daughter Rachel of Fort Mill, SC.
Mike attended Nunthorpe Grammer School in York, England. He received his BSc in Physics from Manchester University, England in 1964. He then worked for ICI Fibres Division both at the Research Center and the Manufacturing Facility in Yorkshire, England. He transferred to the US in 1978 where he was an Engineer with Fiber Industries Inc., later becoming Celanese. He worked at both the Manufacturing Facilities in Greenville, SC and Shelby, NC before transferring to the Research Center in Charlotte, NC. He retired in 2002.
Mike was an avid DIY man and renovated and remodeled several houses. During retirement he set up his own business refinishing furniture. His particular interest was antique oak furniture and he amassed a considerable collection. He also collected Wedgwood Jasperware, with almost 100 pieces, old English biscuit tins and old woodworking tools!
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to AA District 21 in SC or the Feline Rescue team Little Feet Haven.
