Fred J. Hawran Sr.

Fred J. Hawran, Sr. 93, of Windsor, beloved husband of Judith (Saraceno) Hawran for 62 years, passed away peacefully Sunday, February 11, 2024, surrounded by his family. Born and raised in Hartford, son of the late John and Mary (Gonshor) Hawran. Fred served in the US Army as a front-line artillery soldier during the Korean War, and was awarded a Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars. Upon his honorable discharge, he was employed as a sheet metal worker with the Local 40 Union for 35+ years. He was an antique car enthusiast, traveled the country by RV and spent winters in Ft. Myers, FL. Spending time with his family gave him his greatest enjoyment. Besides his wife Judith, he leaves five children, Fred Hawran, Jr. (Jenny), Debbie Yeschick (Steve), Thomas Hawran (Kim), John Hawran (Suzanne) and Annmarie Bleaking (Sam); 12 grandchildren, Sara, Katie, and Michelle Hawran, Michael Yeschick (Natalia), Lisa D'Aleo (Greg), Daniel Yeschick (Kaitlyn), Jacob Hawran (Rose), Brett Hawran, Rob Meyer (Becca), Alyssa Hawran, Matthew Bleaking, and Dillon Bleaking (Britney); great-grandchildren, Charlie, Avery, Jackson and another expected in June; a sister Sophia Sharkevich; and many loved nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings Veronica (Cwikla), John Jr., Stephen, Michael and Mary Ann (Michaels). His family will receive friends Mon., Feb. 19, 2024, from 5-8 PM at the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Avenue, Windsor. Family and friends may gather Tues. Feb. 20, 2024, 9:15 AM at Carmon's followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 10 AM at St. Damien of Molokai/St. Gabriel Church, 379 Broad Street, Windsor.
