Gary W. Thompson

Gary W. Thompson, 75, a resident of Sandgate Road, passed away Friday August 5, 2022 at Albany Medical Center surrounded by his family. Gary was born in Bennington on April 23, 1947 the son of the late James and Marie (Wilcox) Thompson. He attended local schools and graduated from North Bennington High School. Garry's working career began working on a horse farm, transitioning to dairy farming on the Fuller Family Farm and then working at NSK for 25years until retirement. Gary was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting and fishing and going to his favorite place, hunting camp. With his wife Carlene, he spent the last 19 summers in Westport, NY fishing Lake Champlain. Gary could make a friend in five minutes. People loved Gary and he made anyone feel special and had a voracious sense of humor. He was the ultimate family man who loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Gary is survived by his wife Carlene (Fuller) Thompson of Arlington, his children Kimberly Morse (Rick), Katie Murphy (Kevin) and Jamie Thompson, sisters Pam Meunier and Jennifer Robinson, grandchildren Tyson, Kayla, Jade, Jake, Maggie, Erin, Patrick and Connor and great grandchildren Lexie, Kenley and Liam. A celebration of Gary's life will be held August 28 at 1pm at the American Legion in Arlington. There are no visiting hours.
