Cumberland, MD- George Ternent Green, 84, of Cumberland, MD passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at Egle Nursing Home.
Born January 2, 1939 in Lonaconing, MD, Mr. Green was the son of the late Lindley Green and Florence (Ternent) Green. He was also preceded by his wife Edna Mae Green; and a sister: Edith Binnix.
George was a graduate of Beall High School Class of 1957 and was also a veteran of the United States Navy, where he served as a rescue swimmer on the USS Wasp. He retired from Schmidt's Bakery and also the Thomas B. Finan Center. He was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church. He enjoyed flyfishing and watching baseball. He was also a military history buff and enjoyed going on battlefield tours.
George is survived by his daughter: Gail Graham and husband Andrew; his brother: James Green and wife Linda; his sister: Viola Green; his step-daughter: Antonette Buco; his step-sons: Alvin Buco, John Buco, and Joven Buco.
Friends will be received at Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, MD on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.
A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Sally Bartling officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be in the Maryland Veterans' Cemetery at Rocky Gap.
Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the Post #13 Veterans Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contribution be made in his name to the Interfaith Food Pantry, 301 Cumberland Street, Cumberland, MD 21502
