Gerhard C. Duddeck, 91, of Dubuque, died Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Harmony Dubuque.
Visitation will be from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home & Crematory.
The Funeral Service for Gerhard will be 1:30 pm Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Key West with full military honors rendered by the American Legion Post #6 and the Iowa Army National Guard.
Gerhard was born January 14, 1933, in Germany, the son of Carl and Martha Duddeck. On November 9, 1957, he married Ruth Proetel in Dubuque. She died February 5, 2022.
Gerhard was a painter for Eska for many years, and later worked at the Dubuque Stamp Company where he retired.
Throughout his life, Gerhard enjoyed woodworking and working with his hands. He helped build many houses and built his own canoe. He enjoyed the little things in life, such as an afternoon cup of coffee with a pastry.
Survivors include his daughter, Sandi Duddeck of Dubuque; daughter-in-law, Deb Duddeck of Dubuque; grandchildren, Melissa (Brad) Hahlen, Jeremy Duddeck, Chris (Brittany) Duddeck, Austin Reeg, Mackenzi Reeg, Michael (Tana) Holdridge, Kyle Holdridge, and Eric Holdridge; five great-grandchildren, Abbie, Paige, Molly, Parker, and Sophia; and one brother, Richard Duddeck of Dubuque.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Sue Duddeck, one son, Tom Duddeck, and one sister in-law Yvonne Duddeck.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Harmony of Dubuque and Dr. Runde for their compassionate care and loving support.
