Harry Marcus "Mark" Wright, 72, died peacefully on Sunday, February 19, 2023 at the VA Hudson Valley Health Care Campus in Castle Point, NY after being confined for over a decade, resulting from a surgical injury.
Son of the late James Wright and Marilyn Ault, he was born in Pasadena, CA on September 8, 1950. He graduated from Covina High School (CA) in 1967 and later studied at the Multnomah School of the Bible in Portland, OR where he received his associates degree.
In 1969, Mark enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served as a radio operator during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged from active service in 1973 and went on to serve as a reservist until 1974.
He loved to sing and was a member of several choirs including the Seattle First Baptist Church Choir, St. Mark's Episcopal Church Choir, Seattle Lesbian & Gay Chorus, and Grace Episcopal Church Choir. Mark also enjoyed photography and drawing.
On August 2, 2008, he married James F. Kolessar in San Mateo, CA. James survives at home in Highland, NY.
Additional survivors include his son, Johnathan Kolessar Wright of Poughkeepsie, NY; his son, LCpl. Matthew J. Kolessar Wright of Highland, NY; his daughter, Melissa R. (Wright) Sobo of Vancouver, WA; his son, Matthew S. Wright of Portland, OR; his son, Michael J. Wright of Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia; his sister, Kathy Becker; his cousin, Rick Kidd; as well as many other loving relatives & friends.
Visitation will be held from 10:30am to 11:30am on Saturday, February 25 at Holy Cross Episcopal Church, 30 Pine Grove Avenue, Kingston, NY. A funeral service will immediately follow at 11:30am with The Rev. Steve Schunk officiating.
