James Peter Bally

James Peter Bally, age 85, passed away on August 5, 2022. Preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Thelma Bally; and son, Jason Peter Bally. He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Micki Bally; daughter, Jennifer Solodar; sister, Helen Bally; grandchildren, Jack and Jessica Solodar.
Born in 1936, Jim was a graduate of Central High School in Columbus where he was president of his class. He attended Ohio State University and OSU Law School where he was vice president of his law class. Jim's career spanned private law practice and Columbus politics; he was appointed Administrative Aide to Mayor Jack Sensenbrenner and Legislative Representative for Senator Howard Metzenbaum. He was also a partner at Brownfield, Bowen, Bally & Sturtz legal offices and held a position as legal counsel for the Ohio State Liquor Control Department for more than 30 years.
Jim was an entertainer at heart and loved bringing stories, jokes, and music into people's lives. His positive disposition brightened many lives around him. He was an avid sports fan and often spoke of his love for sports, karaoke, and musical theater. Jim was also very dedicated to his son, Jason, and never missed an opportunity to enjoy a Cincinnati Reds game together.
