Judith Paula Tuckerman, born on April 14, 1943 in Toledo, Ohio, was a courageous soul with a dedicated heart. She was a beacon of strength and compassion in her community, and she left an indelible mark on the hearts of everyone she met. A loving wife, mother, a thoughtful friend, and a fierce advocate for those in need, Judy's life was filled with acts of kindness that rippled far beyond her immediate circle. She was a gourmet cook and an extraordinary baker, known far and wide for her delicious chocolate cakes. Judy's zest for life and her passion for helping others stemmed from her deep love for her family and her unwavering commitment to serving her community.
Judy was a homemaker, a role she cherished and excelled in. She elegantly balanced her responsibilities at home with her commitments to the community, serving as a board member of the YWCA and the James Cancer Hospital Foundation. This dedication led her to be recognized as a YWCA Woman of Achievement in 2003, a testament to her unwavering dedication. She also lent her leadership talents as the Chair of the Wexner Center Donor Circle Council, extending her influence and impact throughout the community and beyond.
Judy was also known for her philanthropic endeavors. She co-chaired the James Cancer Hospital Celebration of Life Annual Fundraiser and was instrumental in establishing the Tuckerman Family Breast Cancer Research Endowment. Additionally, she served as the Honorary Chair of the Stephanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research. Alongside these achievements, Judy was responsible for the creation of the Wexner Center Tuckerman Family Endowment for Children's Programs, further cementing her legacy of service and commitment to improving the lives of others.
Judy is survived by her husband, Steven Tuckerman, her loving children, Brian (Audrey) Tuckerman, Craig (Connie) Tuckerman, and Elise (Joe Rezabek) Robinowitz, and her brother, Steven Eppstein. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Jake, Sam, Madeline, Georgia, Arie, Charlie, Sarah, Lauren, and Jackson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Jean Eppstein, and her sister, Margery.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30 AM on Friday, October 10, 2025 at Temple Israel, 3100 E. Broad St. with a private burial following at Forest Lawn cemetery. Shiva will be observed Friday afternoon at Steve Tuckerman's residence from 4-7 with Kaddish at 4 PM. Additional visitation will be held on Saturday, Oct. 11 from 5-8 at the residence.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Judy's memory be made to The James Fund for Life (310921) at The OSU James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute. Gifts may be made online through the link below or by mail at OSU Foundation, P.O. Box 736096, Chicago, IL, 60673-6096.
We invite you to share your memories of Judy and upload photos to the memorial page. It's a space for everyone whose lives were touched by Judy to celebrate her life, cherish her memory, and honor her remarkable spirit. She will be remembered for her courage, love, dedication, and thoughtfulness, qualities that made her the extraordinary woman she was. Although Judy may have left us in body, her spirit remains alive in the hearts of those she loved and those she served.
