James was preceded in death by his mother, Mattie Pearl Mitchell; father, Thomas Smith; sister, Francine Brown, and brother, Jerome Mitchell.
He leaves to mourn his daughter, India Hill; sisters, Elaine (Walter) McCray, Vicki Mitchell, and Michelle Wilson; brothers, Darren Mitchell, Ricky Terrell, and Kenny Terrell; granddaughters, Peyton and Erin; chess mates, Uncle Michael, Madrid, Ronnie, and Jermaine; dearest friend, Deborah Coleman; and a host of other relatives and friends he truly loved.
A viewing will take place, Thursday, April 27, 2023, from 5-7 PM at Saint Smyrna Baptist Church - 68 Heery Road, Newnan, GA 30263.
A service celebrating his life will be held Friday, April 28, 2023, 1 PM, at Saint Smyrna Baptist Church - 68 Heery Road, Newnan, GA 30263.
Interment will immediately follow at Eastview Cemetery - 87 Milton Ave, Newnan, GA 30263.
