James Robert Daugherty: Jim 76, of Bainbridge passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, May 27, 2025. Jim was born on Wednesday, December 15, 1948, in Frankfort OH to the late Elmer Lee and Nellie Elizabeth (Burns) Daugherty.
Jim was a devoted husband, loving father and his most important title and what he loved being the most was “Pap” to his grandkids. Jim was a 1968 graduate of Paint Valley High School and shortly after graduation he was drafted into the United States Army to serve in Vietnam. He was a proud veteran and after his return he owned and operated Jim's tractor repair in Bainbridge for many years. He later worked for Palm Harbor Homes in Sabina, where he retired in 2008.
Jim is survived by his wife the former Pam Saunders, whom he married on October 23, 1994; sisters Duana (James) Brooks and Derenda (Kevin) Cooper; Andy (Tina) Daugherty and William “Bill” Daugherty; two children David Kuhn and Brandi (Rex) Smith; grandchildren Isaac (Harley) Oberer, Hunter (Erin) Smith and Hailee Smith; great grandchildren Liam Oberer, Lyra Smith, Peyton Oberer, Spencer Smith and Easton Oberer; nieces and nephews Shawn (Natasha) Cooper, J.R. Brooks, Jason (Stacie) Daugherty, Ryan (Mariah) Daugherty, Tiffany (Barry) Anderson, and several great nieces and nephews along with his constant companion, his corgi Athena.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his nephew, Brad Daugherty.
Jim will be deeply missed by many. He enjoyed spending his time with his grandkids and their many activities; as well as baking and making treats for everyone, especially at Christmas time. He loved his family beyond measure. His family would like to thank the DaVita Dialysis Center in Chillicothe for the wonderful care they provided Jim over the last 7 years.
