James "Jim" L. Hackman, age 79, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away on Tuesday, August 22, 2023.
A memorial service will be held at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in Wisconsin Rapids, on Friday, August 25, 2023, at 11am with Father Steven Weller presiding. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 9:00 AM until the time of service.
Jim was born on November 12, 1943, in Wisconsin Rapids, WI to Bernard and Anna (O'Betke) Hackman. He graduated from Maryheart High School in Pittsville in 1961. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing softball and was a great hardball pitcher. Jim married LeeAnn Ziehr on June 13, 1964 at St. Vincent in Wisconsin Rapids. Jim worked as a sheet metal worker for Ron's Refrigeration and retired there after 25 years.
Jim enjoyed fishing up north in Phillips and in the Big Eau Pleine. He was an avid hunter and really enjoyed watching the Packers and Brewers. He was described as a simple man and as well as a loving husband and father.
Jim is survived by his wife, LeeAnn; children, Kim (George) King of Grafton, WI, Jim Jr. (Tracey) Hackman of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, Korey (Wendy) Hackman of Plover, WI, Ryan (Heidi) Hackman of Port Edwards, WI; grandchildren, Casey (Lindsay) Hollar, Alex Hackman, Joseph (Kayla) Hackman, Emily Hollar, McKayla Hackman, Braedyn King, Jackson King, and Mason Hackman; great grandchildren, Colby Hollar, Emily Sutheimer and baby boy Hackman; sister- in- law, Joanne Hackman; and many nieces and nephews
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jack Hackman; brother-in-law, Jim (Ruth) Ziehr; and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the hospice nurses and staff at Hilltop Terrace.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in James's name to the Alzheimer's Association.
