JANICE MAE CLINE
Janice Mae Cline, age 86 of Cherokee, IA, passed away Thursday, September 28, 2023, at Careage Hills Healthcare in Cherokee, IA. Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at the Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home in Cherokee, IA. Father Dan Rupp will officiate. Burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery in Cherokee. Visitation with family present will be 5:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, at the Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home. There will be a prayer service following visitation Tuesday, at the funeral home. The Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home in Cherokee is assisting the family with arrangements. Janice Mae Cline, the daughter of Leo and Arlah (Ibach) Grapenthin was born January 20, 1937, in Storm Lake, IA. Her childhood years were spent in Peterson, IA, where she attended school and graduated from Brooke High School.
Following her schooling, she worked at various jobs, but none were more important to her than being a mother and grandmother.
Jan enjoyed baking, cooking, gambling, and playing cards. She was also known for being a great seamstress. Most of all, she cherished the time spent with her family and attending all her grandchildren’s activities and sporting events.
On Thursday, September 28, Jan passed away at Careage Hills Healthcare at the age of 86. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Arlah Grapenthin, one son, Loni Loucks; sister, Carolyn Martinez; and son-in-law, Jaime Rodriquez.
She will lovingly be remembered by her eight children: Tori (Randy) May Smith, Rory (Sandy) Loucks, Tani Rodriguez, Janita (Tom) Hirschman, Jaryl Grauer, Jana (Kent) Pedersen, Jayla (Brett) Graybill, and Jalene Woods; daughter-in-law, Rosanne Loucks; 58 grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, Ronetta; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
