Jason Newton Rife, age 47, of Richlands, Virginia, passed away on April 13, 2024 at his home following a brief illness.
Jason was born July 1, 1976, in Richlands, Virginia, and was the son of McGinnis Rife and Sharon Rife. He was a 1995 graduate of Whitewood High School and was employed by Elite Lawn Care. He was a talented carpenter and a hard worker, with a humble heart. He was of the holiness faith and a lifetime resident of the area. Jason will greatly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Jason was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Joe and Elizabeth Rife, and maternal grandparents, Ondas and Dorothy Rife.

Fiance, partner and companion, Tammy Cruey
Sister, Melissa Keen and husband, Dwayne of Cedar Bluff, VA

Nephew, Austin Keen
Niece, Madison Keen
Step-daughters,
Elizabeth Sparks and husband, Josh of Richlands, VA
Brooke Cordle and husband, Alex of Richlands, VA
Step-grandchildren, Julius Cruey, Laney Cordle, and Wyatt Cordle
His furbabies that he adored: Midget and Wee Wee
Several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends also survive.
Funeral services for Jason Newton Rife will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at the Shiloh Temple on Pea Patch near Whitewood, Virginia with the Rev. Keith Rife and Rev. Phyllis Rowe officiating. Burial will follow at the Rife Cemetery on Pea Patch. Pallbearers will be: Chanc Rife, Austin Keen, Wyatt Justus, Brian Rife, James Barrow, Joshua Sparks, and Ray Cordle. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Wyatt Cantrell, Bill Gillespie, Kevin McGlothlin, and Julius Cruey. Friends may visit with the family at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands on Tuesday evening beginning at 6:00 PM. Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands is in charge of arrangements and those wishing to express sympathy online may do so at www.hurstscottfuneralhomes.com
