Georgia Mae Shepherd, age 82, of Cedar Bluff, VA, passed away on Thursday, August 7, 2025 surrounded by loved ones. Georgia was born on March 17, 1943 in Richlands, VA to the late Lee Henry Ray and Virgie Ethel Blankenship Ray. Georgia was a graduate of Richlands High School. She was a lifelong resident of the area, and a member of Richlands Tabernacle for over 50 years. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She will be missed by her family, friends, and church family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold R. Shepherd; son, Jonathan Ray Shepherd; sisters Jean Jackson, Janice Richardson, Eva Houchins, Bonnie Hill, and Edith "Cookie" Hess; brothers, Cecil, Rufus, Chester, and Bill Ray. Georgia is survived by: Son, Joseph Shepherd and wife, Jennifer of Cedar Bluff, VA Daughter-In-Law, Tina Shepherd of Cedar Bluff, VA Grandchild, Ashton Dylan Shepherd Special thanks to Legacy Hospice and caregivers; Holly Ward and Connie McFarlane Funeral services for Georgia Mae Shepherd will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at the Richlands Tabernacle in Richlands, VA with Rev. Roger Boyd and Rev. Randy Webb officiating. Interment will follow at the Johnson Family Cemetery on Combs Ridge near Council, VA. Pallbearers will be Jason Shepherd, Jody Brewster, Nathan Justice, Michael Paul Shepherd, Johnny Hank Stiltner, and Keith Reed. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mike Shepherd, Doug Shepherd, Matt Shepherd, and Henry Stiltner. The Shepherd family will receive friends from 6-9 pm on Saturday evening at the church.
