Roger L. Shepherd

Roger L. Shepherd, age 78, passed away on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at Arbor view assisted living in Wisconsin Rapids. Roger was born at home in Whitewater, Wi on December 12, 1946, the son of Irvin and Elaine (Olson) Shepherd. The family moved to Argonne Wisconsin when he was an infant. The youngest of three boys, and he enjoyed growing up in a small town in northern Wisconsin He went to school in Argonne where he had the pleasure of having his mother as his 5th & 6th grade teacher. Roger graduated from Crandon High School in 1965, and UW Stevens Point in 1970, where he became a SIA SEFI Member. After graduating, he began his career with Consolidated Papers in Argonne, later transferring to Rhinelander and eventually Wisconsin Rapids. Roger retired as Administrative Services Manager after 27 years with the company. Roger loved country music. He was also an avid sports enthusiast, cheering on his favorite teams, including the Green Bay Packers, the Milwaukee Brewers and the Wisconsin Badgers. He enjoyed road trips (whether around the block or across the country). trips up north for parades, fairs, deer camp and visits with friends and family. A special pleasure was the time spent with the happy hour gang at the Sportsman's Bar in Wisconsin Rapids.
Roger is survived by his brothers Richard (Patricia), Shepherd and their family. Bob (Jackie) Shepherd and their family and special friends, Dirk and Mary Haessly, Kelli Stelzer and Peg Walton. He was preceded in death by his parents Irvin and Elaine.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Following the service a gathering for family and friends will be held at Anchor Bay in Wisconsin Rapids. Burial will take place at a later date at Lakeside Cemetery in Crandon, Wisconsin.
The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to The Salvation Army or a charity of the donor's choice.
