Dorothy Hausman Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 1, 2025.
Dorothy Ann Hausman (nee Kalkofen), of Antigo, formerly of Crandon passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on August 14, 2025. She was 85 years old.
Dorothy was born on March 31, 1940, in Grandma Geske's (Midwife) house in Crandon, Wisconsin. She was the eldest of eight children born to Alvin and Beatrice (Fasbender) Kalkofen.
A 1958 graduate of Crandon High School, Dorothy left her hometown soon after to pursue life in the big city of Milwaukee. There, she embraced a vibrant, social life and worked as a bartender for most of her career, earning a loyal following of customers who were drawn to her warm personality and sense of humor. Dorothy was a true social butterfly, known for her infectious laugh, quick wit, and deep love for people.
She found joy in the little pleasures-shopping, decorating for every holiday, and the occasional trip to the casino. She adored her family and her two cats, Kelly and Sassy, who were her faithful companions. In 2016, she returned to northern Wisconsin, settling in Antigo to be closer to her family in her retirement years.
Dorothy is survived by her loving children, Diana Hausman, Deborah Hausman, and Donald Hausman; her grandchildren, Tony (Rachel) Kastning and Donald Hausman Jr., Daniel Hausman; and her great-grandchildren, Samuel, Kaitlyn, Leah, Morgan, and Winnie Kastning.
She is also survived by her siblings, Janet Gilmore, Cindy (Daniel) Harris, Terrie (Benny) Samz, Tom Kalkofen, James Kalkofen, and Ronald (Mary Ann) Kalkofen.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Larry Kalkofen; sisters-in-law, Mary Kalkofen and Denver Kalkofen; and brother-in-law, Bill Gilmore.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Crandon Lakeside Cemetery.
Dorothy's family and friends will remember her for her love of life, unshakable spirit, and the joy she brought to every room she entered. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
Dorothy's family would like to thank LeRoyer Hospice and the staff in the Intensive Care Unit at the Aspirus Antigo Hospital for their care and compassion expressed to their mother and her family.
