Jerry Lee Nelson, age 87, of Oldfield, Missouri, departed this life on July 8, 2025.
Jerry was born February 3, 1938 at Keltner, Missouri to Leo and Bertie (Pruett) Nelson.
On February 24, 1957, Jerry was united in marriage to Thelma Bonita Maggard by the Rev. John Pruett. They were blessed with three daughters; Tressie Loetta, Teresa Juanita, and Tracy Joetta.
He spent many happy years farming and logging with his brother. He loved coon hunting, attending ball games, and spending time with his neighbors and friends. His greatest joy was spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Jerry was a Christian and a beloved member and deacon of Eastern Gate Missionary Baptist Church.
Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, Bonita; his parents, Leo and Bertie; granddaughter, Ashley Maggard; brothers, Leo Jr and JC; and sister Sharon Kay Goodwin.
Jerry is survived by his three daughters; Juanita Powell (of the home), Loetta Nelson (of Keltner), and Joetta Maggard and boyfriend, Gary Harris (of Keltner). His seven grandchildren; Crystal Nelson and husband, Curtis, Tattamecca Maggard and husband, Jerry, Jerry Powell, Lacey Powell, Kiersten Applegate, Ronnie Maggard, and Rayna Powell. His nine great-grandchildren; Hannah Guerin, Cassidy Nelson, Amelia Ellis and husband, Christian, Crissie Coltrane, Micheal Morrison, Wyatt Applegate, Connor Applegate, Zorianna Maggard, and Preston Powell. His two great-great-grandchildren; Marielee Coltrane and Laney Robertson.
He also leaves behind three sisters and two brothers; Kathleen Short, Kathryn Caudill, Bobbie Mitchell, Dewey Nelson, Jim Nelson, and many other relatives and friends.
Services for Jerry will be at 3:00 pm Monday, July 14, 2025 at Greenlawn Funeral Home Ozark with interment at Harvill Cemetery Oldfield, Missouri. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 3:00 pm July 14, 2025 prior to the service.
