It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of John Loftin Dansby (Dan), a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and cherished member of our family and community. John passed away peacefully on January 12, 2025, at the age of 88, surrounded by the love of his family.
John Dansby was born on December 4, 1936, in Clio, Alabama, to Dallas and Neta Dansby. He grew up in Alabama and Panama City, Florida, where he cultivated a lifelong love for photography, sales, and as a Master Gardener. After graduating from Boone High School in Orlando, John served in the US Navy for six years as a photographer first stationed in El Centro CA Naval Air Station and after marrying Marilyn, left for 2 years for Guam. There he was station on the USS Maddox and toured the Canary Islands among Okinawa, Japan and other islands. His dedication earned him the Good Conduct Medal. After the Navy he was employed by JC Penney and other retail companies. In 1998 he retired from the US Air Force Academy, Civilian Personnel.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; their 2 children, John D. Dansby (Jacque), Jeffrey A. Dansby (Lynette); 4 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Additionally, he is survived by his beloved dog Rex who brought him immense comfort and joy in his later years.
In his free time, John enjoyed gardening, fishing, camping, and traveling. His favorite moments were spent, cheering for the Broncos. A burial will follow at Pikes Peak National Cemetery, Colorado Springs. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in John's honor to the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
