John Kerr

Fletcher: John Carlton Kerr, 92, went to be with the Lord Thursday, December 21, 2023 in Lawton, OK.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at the Sterling First Baptist Church, with Jon Marc Yates and John Carlisle officiating. Burial will follow in the Sterling Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Services of Marlow, Oklahoma.
John was born Monday, November 9, 1931 in Ninnekah, OK, to A.C. and Stella Ruth (Gilbreath) Kerr. His family moved to Rush Springs where he was raised. Just after his twenty-first birthday, John enlisted with the United States Army and served his country during the Korean Conflict. John married Jaunita Lois Johnson on October 7, 1953 in Sterling, Oklahoma. Together, they begin to raise their family. John worked as a plumber and as a pastor. John started many churches over his career, sowing seeds for current and future generations to grow closer to God. John liked to read his bible, and he also enjoyed staying active. His hobbies and pastimes include gardening, farming, fishing, and working as a mechanic. He also played the fiddle as well as other instruments. He was a member of the Country Road Baptist Church in Sterling. His friends, family, and community will miss, and remember, his impact in their lives.
Survivors include his son, Archie Kerr and wife, Kellean, of Sterling, three daughters, Anita Yates and husband, Gary, of Willard, MO, Johnie Carla Ferguson of Chickasha, and Cora Lockwood and husband, Larry, of Sterling, thirteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, brother-in-law, Elmer Johnson, four sisters-in-law, Martha Kerr, Ida Jo Adamson, Ruby Williams, and Nyla Johnson, and numerous nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his wife, Jaunita, his parents, A.C. and Ruth Kerr, daughter, Georgie Marie Kerr Ramsey, son, Jimmy Jon Kerr, three brothers, Leonard Kerr, Darrell Kerr, and Eual Kerr, and two sisters, Ruby Lee Teel and Erma Speigel.
Pallbearers will be: Hoss Carlisle, Keith Kerr, Jesse Ferguson, Matt Stover, Jerry Austin, and Duane Kerr.
Honorary pallbearers will include Dan Teel, Ron Roberts, and Jimmy Speigel.
