PEORIA - Fifield, Jordan Anthony 92, died Sunday, February 4, 2024, at home with his family by his side.
Jordan was born June 13th, 1931, the son of Charles and Louise Fifield. He grew up in
Galesburg, Illinois. He was educated at Knox College where he graduated Cum Laude/Phi Beta Kappa. Jordan was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity and a 4-year member of the football team including winning the Midwest Conference championship in 1950. After college, he served from 1953-1955 as a First Lieutenant in the Infantry of the U.S. Army. Following his service, Jordan attended Harvard Law School graduating with a J.D. in 1958.
He practiced general civil law with a specialty in litigation in Peoria for over 40 years starting his career at Miller, Westervelt & Johnson; Co-founding Goldsworthy & Fifield; and ending his career as of counsel Kavanagh, Scully, Sudow, White & Frederick. Jordan dearly loved the practice of law. He was a gentleman and a scholar of the law.
In 1955, Jordan married Nancy Tucker Fifield who he met in high school. They had an enduring bond which exceeded their 63 years of marriage. They both shared a love of golf, tennis and world-wide travel with family and friends. They were never far from each other's side.
He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, former President of the Peoria Bar Association, a 2010 inductee into the Peoria County Bar Association "Pillars of the Bar", a member of the Rotary Club and a member of the Country Club of Peoria. An avid reader and historian, Jordan was always willing to share his countless stories with his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his son, Andrew T. Fifield of
Dallas, TX; two daughters Karen Crain (Jimmy) and Leslie Westberry (Kent) both of Louisville, KY; eight grandchildren: Andrew and Katie Westberry; Jack, Bennett and Mary-Louise Crain; Alexa Bratton; Alyssa and Abby Fifield; and two great-grandchildren: Elizabeth Sayre Westberry and Charlotte Bratton.
Jordan was preceded in death by his wife Nancy, his brother Charles Fifield and his parents, Charles and Louise Fifield.
The family would like to thank all of Jordan's wonderful caregivers especially Bonnie Frailey a dear friend for over 40 years.
Visitation will be held at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Peoria Heights on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 from 9:00 AM until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM. Msgr. Jason gray will officiate and burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
