Joe was born in Everett, raised in Melrose and a graduate of Melrose High School, where he played on the basketball team. He went on to earn his degree from Salem State College and resided in Melrose for many years. Joe worked as a Senior Accountant for the Melrose Wakefield Hospital for over 50 years, prior to his retirement. He was a former member of the Melrose Elks Club, enjoyed watching Boston sports teams and summered on Cape Cod for many years.
Joe was the loving son of the late Peter & Mary (Ryan) Chance. Caring brother of Marilisa Freni & her husband Christopher of Wakefield. Uncle of Taylor & Christina Freni, both of Wakefield. Also survived by relatives & friends.
A Graveside Service will be held at Wyoming Cemetery, 205 Sylvan St., Melrose on Monday, December 5, 2022, at 11:00AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend
