Patricia "Pat" M. Hart, 81, of Georgetown, MA, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Boston, MA on May 9, 1944, Pat was the daughter of the late Daniel and Mildred McCarthy of East Boston. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Dennis McCarthy, and her sister, Maureen Freitas, along with her brother-in-law, Edward Freitas.
Pat grew up in East Boston, where she met the love of her life, Peter Hart. Together they built a beautiful life and raised their family in Melrose, MA. Pat and Peter shared nearly six decades of love and partnership, celebrating their 59th wedding anniversary this past Labor Day.
A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Pat's greatest joy was her family. She leaves behind her cherished children, Christopher Hart and his wife Elizabeth of Midlothian, VA, and Jennifer Hart and her husband Brad Emerson of Newburyport, MA. She was the proud grandmother of Andrew, Alex, Ben, and Lauren Hart. Pat is also survived by many nieces and nephews who adored her.
Pat will be remembered for her kindness, warmth, and unwavering love for her family and friends.
A celebration of her life will be held at Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose, MA, with visiting hours on Friday, September 5, 2025, from 4–7 p.m. A Catholic Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, 4 Herbert St. in Melrose. Interment will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett, MA.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Pat's memory to a charity of your choice.
