Obituary
Guest Book
Josie was born on March 31st, 1929, one of 11 siblings, Theresa, David, James, Joseph, Charles, Herman, Alfred, Gloria, Ronald, and Lloyd. She was pre-deceased by all but Lloyd.
She is survived by a son, Chuck (Angie), and a granddaughter, Heather (Dan). Josie was fiercely proud of both. She raised Chuck as a single mother and was exceptionally gratified by all she was able to provide and pass along.
Josie is also survived by her son’s two lifelong friends, Bob (Nancy) Dapper and John (Gail) Paljug. Nothing made her happier during her last weeks than seeing Bob and John and knowing that her son had maintained the kind of friendships that are so important in life.
Josie was the owner and operator of two beauty salons during her life. She was extraordinarily passionate about servicing her customers and the bonds she built with them over many, many decades.
One of Josie’s other passions was her volunteer work. She worked tirelessly to help those in need through her associations with various hospitals, senior care facilities, and churches. Josie was recognized many times over the years for her generous efforts.
For the last 42 years, Josie lived independently in a high-rise apartment building in Greentree. She relished the relationships she established with neighbors throughout the building—often giving little gifts to the many children who resided nearby. Josie could often be found walking the hallways and stairwells. She was not a fan of elevators, so it was routine for her to travel up and down three flights of steps multiple times per day, even into her 90’s.
Those who knew Josie will remember her as fun loving, idiosyncratic, quirkily fashionable, and extremely gregarious. She never interacted with anyone without giving them some sort of unique small gift. She was truly one of a kind.
Get ready, God; a gift bag is on the way.
